The shoulder joint has the greatest range of motion [ROM] of any human joint thanks to its bony incongruity, the stabilizing rotator cuff and the combined strength of the associated shoulder muscles. Maintaining or restoring the length and stability of the clavicle protects the lever arm of these shoulder muscles and allows patients to fully utilize this ROM potential.

Hofer Medical Solutions has partnered with clinical experts in the field to offer a portfolio of fracture fixation solutions of both the clavicle and proximal humerus that will help you achieve the best possible individual treatment outcome for your patients.

Treatment options

Since most clavicle fractures are either in or involve the lateral third of the bone, we would like to introduce you to one of our most reliable and experienced workhorses. This VA locking plate is designed for both primary and secondary treatment of lateral clavicle fractures, including options for ligament repair.

Main features and benefits
Anatomically pre-shaped plate, with a modest footprint to match individual patient anatomy and size
Sleek construct profile, thanks to thin plates without / with next to no screwhead protrusion in fully locked position, thus minimizing soft-tissue irritation
Unparalleled polyaxiality of the VA locking holes, offering great freedom of choice to adapt to the patient's fracture morphology and anatomy
INTEOS® locking technology that virtually eliminates the risk of cold welding
Double-size screw heads for a variety of lateral screw options for adequate lateral support even on most comminuted fractures

INTEOS® Clavicle superior System

Treatment options

Hofer’s ‘go-to’ VA-locking implant for the 2nd most prevalent fractures of the middle third of the clavicle, intended to cater for primary fracture fixation as well as the treatment of non-unions and even correction osteotomies.

Main features and benefits
Anatomically pre-shaped in 2 different ‘S’-shape types (in terms of radius of curvatures as well as torsion) and three different lengths to minimise the need for intraoperative reshaping, despite a wide range of anatomical variations in clavicle shapes and sizes
Thanks to Hofer's INTEOS® locking technology, bending via the locking holes is an option if forming is nevertheless indicated
Multiple options for compression holes to accommodate differences in fracture morphology
Low-profile design to adapt to a tight tissue envelope and relatively prominent plate position
Unsurpassed polyaxiality and virtually no risk of "cold welding"

INTEOS® Clavicle Hook Plate System

Treatment options

This VA-locking plate is indicated for primary and secondary surgical treatment of ‘NEER Type II’ lateral clavicle fractures, ‘Tossy Type III’ acromioclavicular dislocations and ligamentous repair of the acromioclavicular joint.

Main features and benefits
Designed to optimize patient tolerance to a hook plate design thanks to a minimal plate footprint, flat plate design, multiple hook heights and an anteriorly curved, rounded hook design to protect the supraspinatus tendon
Oblong hole for initial plate fixation, but leaving enough space for fine-tuning the position before locking

Unsurpassed polyaxiality and virtually no risk of "cold welding"

INTEOS® HCP Hofer Clavicle Pin

Treatment options

This intramedullary implant is regularly topping the charts as Hofer’s most prolifically used implant. It has been designed to provide surgeons a fast and straightforward, minimal invasive solution for the primary and secondary fixation of fractures of the middle-third of the clavicle, ranging from simple and segmental fracture patterns to more comminuted fracture morphologies.

Main features and benefits
Available in 2 different versions, either for simpler fractures without the risk of clavicular shortening (dynamic version) or for more complicated fractures where the clavicular length must be restored or maintained (static version)
The high modulus of elasticity of the HCP, the self-guiding tip and the improved thread design facilitate the insertion of the pin and at the same time minimize the risk of pin migration

Easy insertion and removal

INTEOS® Humerus proximal System

Treatment options

Our anatomically pre-shaped VA-locking plate comes in left- and right-sided versions and can be used for the primary treatment of fractures of the humeral head and proximal metaphysis, even when extending into the humeral shaft.

Main features and benefits
Comparatively distal plate position on the lateral side of the humeral head to minimize the risk of impingement and irritation of the rotator cuff
9 screw options in the humeral head, with a maximum of 3 locking screws to support the calcar
Preset locking screw directions that are pre-angled cranially into the humeral head to maximize resistance to pull-out while minimizing the risk of screw tip and helping to translate shoulder muscle lever arm forces into improved construct stability

Unparalleled polyaxiality helps surgeons adapt to complicated fracture morphologies

INTEOS® DFD Double Fix Dynamic

20150122mc DFD Stilllife IMGP0159
Treatment options

This implant assembly provides a unique, dynamic intramedullary fixation through a minimal invasive approach, of a salvageable fractured humeral head to the humeral shaft. In combination with early functional aftertreatment, this dynamic construct stimulates healing, making use of ligamentotaxis while eliminating rotational and angular instability of the humeral head. As the latter 2 forces are also responsible for triggering most of the associated pain, functional aftertreatment will be much better tolerated.

Main features and benefits
Unparalleled polyaxiality helps surgeons adapt to complicated fracture morphologies
A radiolucent MIS aiming arm enables optimal control when positioning the dynamic base plate in the intramedullary axis of the humeral shaft as a preliminary stage for capturing the humeral head
The base plate allows secure bicortical locking screw fixation to the humeral shaft as an anchor for dynamization, controlled by the limited slide in the upper plate
The triangulated and divergent intramedullary humeral head fixation offers optimal humeral head stability under load
The humeral head screws are designed for improved screw insertion into the humeral head and at the same time facilitate controlled dynamization thanks to their smooth shaft
Their blunt screw tip protects against screw protrusion
