In a world where fractures are becoming increasingly complicated and patients’ functional demands have risen, implant solutions have evolved to keep up with the mounting challenges trauma surgeons have come to face.

Today's trauma surgeons are no longer the generalists they once were, but highly specialized experts who focus on a particular anatomical region or specific fracture-related complications.

All of this notwithstanding, there will always be a use for straightforward but versatile implants allowing a surgeon to go ‘back to basics’ and devise a solution to match the specifics of an individual case. For this reason, Hofer offers its universal systems.

INTEOS® Straight plate Systems

Treatment options

Hofer Medical solutions’ version of a small fragment set, consisting of HS GP 3.5 dynamic compression plates and HDRS 3.51/3rd tubular plates. Equipped with options for standard cortical screw fixation as well as VA-locking capabilities in each individual plate hole, this system offers the versatility to create tailor-made solutions when needed.

Main features and benefits
Low-profile, soft-tissue-friendly panel designs with a modest footprint that can also be bent into a customized shape across their multifunctional panel holes
The design of the compression holes enables dynamic compression
Instrument set that fully utilizes the versatility of the implants, including: The Hofer SaveLock tension/compression device, which converts a VA locking screw into a temporary tension screw
Hofer's dynamic compression device, which enables dynamic compression if the screws are not inserted in an orthogonal direction

INTEOS® HSN-esin System

Treatment options

Hofer’s elastic sliding nail portfolio is indicated for the intramedullary treatment of long bone shaft fractures in children and adolescents with open epiphyseal plates, as well as upper extremity shaft fractures in adults. When used in paediatric lower extremity fractures, a weight limit of 50Kg is to be respected. Fixation stability reaches its peak when the nails are used in pre-bent pairs, making three-point intramedullary cortical contact (fracture zone and proximal and distal metaphyses).

Main features and benefits
Large selection of colour-coded diameters in the portfolio, with matching locking HSN plugs to lock the protruding nail end at the insertion site for improved fracture stabilization and to prevent soft tissue irritation
The improved design of the nail tip hook facilitates the insertion of the nail and at the same time reduces the pressure on the contact surface between the nail tip and the inner cortical wall to prevent protrusion of the nail during insertion
Improved instruments for both nail insertion and nail extraction

OSTYS® Cannulated screws

Treatment options

Hofer’s offering for compression and fixation of small fracture fragments or fractures in small bones.

Main features and benefits
Self-drilling tip to minimize torque when screwing in the screw, thus minimizing the risk of loss of repositioning or malrotation
Back-cutting thread design that facilitates screw extraction

Screw head to minimize soft tissue irritation, optionally retractable or combined with various washers in osteoporotic or osteopenic bone for maximum compression
